Course Registration Guidelines for the 2026-2027 Academic Year (תשפ"ז)
The academic and administrative staff of the Multidisciplinary Department of Jewish Studies warmly welcome you to the upcoming academic year and wish you a fruitful and mind-expanding year of study.
Registration for courses offered by the Multidisciplinary Department, which are taught across all departments within the Faculty of Jewish Studies, is conducted via the Virtual Counseling system. (This excludes the "Cramim" and "Cramim - Smart" programs, where registration is handled through the department secretariat). Ahead of registration, we will invite all admitted students to a personal meeting with the department heads to construct a customized schedule for each student based on their areas of interest. Department students who do not receive an invitation for a personal meeting by the end of August 2026 are requested to contact the department secretariat via email at multi.judaic@biu.ac.il.
Please arrive at the meeting after you have already registered for—or at least checked the schedule of—your second department (if applicable), English courses (for those required), and any other university requirements. You must register for these courses independently using the Virtual Counseling system on the Inbar portal.
Please note: Students of the Multidisciplinary Department of Jewish Studies generally do not register through the School of Basic Jewish Studies (Olamot).

Single-Major (Track 17101)
The program consists of 92 credits (within the specialization and 20 credits of Basic Jewish Studies—which will typically be taken in one of the Faculty's departments, unless the department permits the student to take some of them at the School of Basic Studies) and 16 general credits.

Dual-Major (Track 17260)
Academic Structure: The program consists of 54 credits in the Multidisciplinary Department (within the specialization and 20 credits of Basic Jewish Studies—which will typically be taken in one of the Faculty's departments, unless the department permits the student to take some of them at the School of Basic Studies).

Additional Requirements
All department students are required to participate in 2 educational field trips per year (mandatory studies) and a number of additional scheduled meetings.
Note: Beyond departmental requirements, each student must ensure they complete the general university requirements for a bachelor's degree: general courses to complete a total of 64 annual hours for the degree, English, and Hebrew Expression as determined by the university. These studies are not included within the framework of the Multidisciplinary Department, and the department has no involvement in their registration.

Course Composition
Each student chooses three (for dual-major students) or four (for single-major students) departments out of the nine existing departments in the Faculty of Jewish Studies. Within these departments, students complete "clusters" of 20–24 annual hours, which include introductory courses, advanced courses, and seminars. A course in bibliographic instruction must also be taken in one of these departments.
